Since 4 September 2007, John Carroll has proudly served as Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit, Great Lakes Electronics Technician “A” School Leading Chief Petty Officer. From leading a Graveyard shift to spearheading the herculean effort to realign four Combat Systems “A” Schools, making hundreds of corrections to 44 modules of course content and most notably fixing the unacceptable test item analysis deficiency affecting more than 4,500 Sailors annually. He has demonstrated a seasoned expertise and sincere concern for his co-workers and students throughout his final tour of duty, his impact on the Navy will continue for years to come. In addition he was able to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Workforce Education from Southern Illinois University.
Upon retireing from the Navy John joined the Texas A&M University - Central Texas family as the Fort Hood Coordinator. Among his duties he provides counseling to servicemembers and their families, coordinates classes that are provided on post and provides a link between the Servicemembers Oppertunities Colleges (SOC) and GoArmyEd and Texas A&M University - Central Texas.
Linda Scott
Linda Scott is a Membership Marketing Specialist with Girl Scouts Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas where she is responsible for member recruitment, community marketing and outreach, and business and corporate sponsorship and development. Prior to joining Girl Scouts Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, Linda was an Independent Insurance Agent with Chandler Insurance specializing in personal line’s insurance where she managed that department. While at Chandler Insurance, Linda was instrumental in major policy changes at Star Casualty Insurance Company, a national carrier, which resulted in Chandler Insurance being invited to serve on Star Casualty’s Advisory Committee.
Linda’s strengths include her creativity, organizational and leadership skills, and detailed knowledge of area resources. In 2011, using those strengths and skills, she created an Integrated Marketing Plan for a local non-profit organization which resulted in increased revenue while saving them thousands of advertising dollars.
In 2012, Linda was honored as Texas A&M - Texarkana’s B.A.A.S. Student of the Year for her dedication to community, family, and school. In addition, she was a Summa Cum Laude honor graduate, and President’s List recipient. Linda is also an award-winning photographer with several prizes, including a “Best of Show” award to her credit. She was recently a guest speaker for the B.A.A.S. program welcoming new students to the program.
Her community activities include HandsOn Texarkana Advisory Board, C.A.S.A. of Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas, Housing Authority of Texarkana Doorways Home Project, Alzheimer’s Alliance Golf Tournament Committee, American Cancer Society March Masquerade Committee, and Leadership Texarkana where she is a member of the Class of 2011.
Linda is a native of Texarkana; she has been married to William R. (Randy) Scott for twenty-six years, and they have two children, Lance and Taylor—both of whom are graduates of A&M – Texarkana! Linda holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M-Texarkana and is currently pursuing her Master’s of Science Degree in Instructional Technology. When she is not with family, at work, or in the virtual classroom, Linda can be found in her Mazda Miata, top-down and camera nearby, looking for that next award winning photograph.
